Monta是一个Indie乐团，经过近几年的发展，独立音乐粉丝们肯定对“Indie”这个词都麻木了。但我还是强烈向大家推荐。
Monta是德国籍英国人Tobias Kuhn一个人撑起的乐团，Kuhn是另一个德国乐队Miles的主唱兼吉他手。Miles组建于1992年，当时Kuhn正在德国的Wuerzbery大学念书，然后遇到了喜好独立音乐的Mike Silver和Ronny Rock，之后一切就顺理成章了。乐队组建不久并自制发行了一张同名EP。1997年签约德国一家唱片公司并发行首张专辑”The Day I Vanished”，1999年出产第二张专辑，名字不详。两张专辑后乐队影响力逐渐扩大，由欧洲、日本波及到了美国。2001年美国的独立音乐厂牌Feel Records签下了该乐队并于次年夏天发行了一张精选集”Structure Vs. Happiness”。
撇开Miles乐队不说，Monta应该算是Kuhn的一个Solo Project。2003年Monta发行第一张EP-”Always Altamont”(文末附有下载地址)，干净优美略带一点Sadcore的独立流行风格从此确立。之后Monta总是作为配角给Death Cab for Cutie、Bright Eyes、Elbow、Naked Lunch等乐队做助阵演出。2005年，Monta终于带来了一张一鸣惊人的Where Circles Begin，这是一张完全可以进入史上最动听独立流行前十名的作品（仅代表个人意见）。两年后的The Brilliant Masses依旧保持原风格，贡献了诸如Good morning stranger之类的名曲，但并没有大的突破（事实上可以听出来Good morning stranger这首歌副歌部分被i’m sorry附了体）。
主唱的Kuhn的声线跟Death Cab For Cutie相似度达到了90%，都是比较适合演绎小indie作品的嗓子，干净，温和，有一点内敛，带一些青涩，很家常，因此让人听着舒服。
